KARD Goes Dumb Litty in Chicago

The four member co-ed K-pop group KARD teamed up with SubKulture Entertainment to visit five cities in the United States.

One of the five stops for the 2019 Wild Kard Tour in USA took place in Chicago at the Patio Theater on the city's northwest side. It was the group;s first visit to Chicago in more than two years.

Prior to the show, some lucky fans met the four members for a fansign. Each Hidden Kard (KARD's fans) received a tour poster to be signed in front of them. First seated at the table was J.Seph who stated was excited for the concert. Next sat Jiwoo with her killer smile and perfect manicure. Third was Somin who got embarrassed when fans commented on how pretty she is. The last member, BM, promised that the concert would be a blast.

Shortly after the fansign, Hidden Kards made their way to their seats. The venue is filled with noise as fans interact with each other. Talking turned into screaming and singing as the four members walked onto the stage. The song Bomb Bomb blasts over the speakers and everyone instantly loses themselves in the music.

Once the song Don't Recall ends the members introduced themselves as a group and one by one to the fans. BM mentions that it is their first time being back in two and a half years. Somin admits to the crowd that there was supposed be music playing in the background while they talked but fans didn't mind one bit.

KARD goes back to the pre-debut days by performing their very first released song Oh Nana followed by You in Me and Rumor. The older songs were well received by Hidden Kards who sang every part at the top of their lungs.

BM and J.Seph walk off the stage to get ready for their next stage leaving Jiwoo and Somin behind. The two ladies mention that the weather was completely different from their previous stop in Texas. The cold temperatures didn't bother the group at all as the fans were heating up the place.

BM comes back onto the stage in a new outfit and trades places with Jiwoo and Somin who head backstage. He performs his solo song Oo Yeah and had the fans scream and chant his name in the middle of it. J.Seph soon joined his band mate to team up for the Inferno which was also produced by BM.

Inferno raised the temperature in the room so much that J.Seph needed to take of his jacket. At first he teased fans by taking the jacket off slowly but struggled in the end. BM said that they like performing those two songs to get the crowd going. "We like turning it up."

The guys called Somin and Jiwoo back onto the stage and they traded places once again. There special stage was a cover of the song If I Can't Have You by Shawn Mendes. Hidden Kards listened in awe to the vocals coming from the two singers.

The lights went down and the screen behind the stage changed. The only video that got shown started playing. Each member of KARD read their handwritten letter to their fans. While one read their letter, the rest of the group sat on a couch behind them and added comments whenever they pleased. Somin calls fans the quartet's guards playing off of the word kard from the fandom's name. "Hidden Guards" J.Seph adds.

The videos ends and the lights turn back on as the four walk onto the stage. Fans stand up from their seats to dance and clap along to the songs Heaven's Door and Moonlight. The energy and excitement grew when BM introduced their next song which hasn't been officially released yet.

BM tells the crowd that the concert is halfway over and sounds of protests are returned. To make up for it, Jiwoo and Somin had guys act cute. Both J.Seph and BM willing did cute poses and brought smiles and laughter to Hidden Kards.

Because BM grew up in the United States, he his fluent in English. However, this didn't stop him from saying thank you in Korean every chance he got, even after saying a full sentence in English. BM admitted that the group has multiple unreleased songs in their arsenal. Some songs will be on the next album and others will come out soon. "Actually one was released yesterday" the songwriter mentioned, referring to the song Habanero.

KARD had their fans sing along with them to Ariana Grande's song Thank You, Next. The calmer atmosphere changed instantly when the beat to Taki Taki by DJ Snake started to blast over the speakers. Somin and Jiwoo showed off their self-confidence during the song with their sexy dance moves and facial expressions.

The members take a short break to catch their breaths and drink some water. BM pulls a prank on the crowd by pretending to throw water into the at them but drinking it instead.

Fans were placed in a competition to win free merchandise. BM split the crowd into two (with some help from Somin) and called one side east and the other west. The rules were simple. BM would yell "There's an east/west side up in here" and fans would respond with "Up in here! Up in here" and each side does it twice. The section that was louder got one of the three available prizes thrown towards them.

After few few practice rounds, the shouting match began. The east side went first followed by the west. The west proved to be louder in the first round but the east side won the second time. BM decided to change things a little and had fans alternate instead of doing two in a row. Both sides gave it their all and tied so they needed to try again. In the end, the east side won the final round. "I'm going to throw it like a football" BM says before launching it to the back half of the venue.

Once the prizes were given away, the group went back to the music. Hidden Kards danced and sang along to the songs Dimelo and Ride on the Wind.

BM mentioned that he and the other members were curious about Chicago Hidden Kards. He asked who started flowing them after the release of their newest song, Dumb Litty but only a small handful of people yelled. They worked their way backwards saying their title tracks, each growing louder than the last. Majority of fans yelled for Oh Nana, their very first song that was released prior to their debut. All four members couldn't hide their surprised faces at how many people in the Chicago area has been with them since the beginning.

The other thing that KARD wanted to know was the ages of those attending the concert. Majority were from 1980 to 2010 but there were a handful of older fans that were born in the 1960s.
Following right after was the performance of KARD's official debut song, Hola Hola. The song ended and the concert neared its end it was time for the members to say their goodbyes.

The first to speak was J.Seph. He thanked fans for cheering the group on so well. Growing up, J.Seph saw commercials for the musical Chicago and about the famous pizza. "It's really amazing that I'm able to perform here in Chicago. It's thanks to you guys" the rapper said. "Soon we are going to go back to Korea, but I hope we get to see you guys again."

Jiwoo brought up that her and J.Seph walked outside while fans were in line before the concert. "It was so cold. We're so thankful that you guys withstood the cold weather just to see us. You guys have really warm hearts" the youngest stated. "Thank you for making today such a great memory for me. I hope that we'll be able to see each other again next time."

Something that took place during the fansign earlier gets brought up by Somin. Throughout the event, countless people told the singer how pretty she is. "My parents would be so happy to see this. I was happy just thinking about how happy our parents would be knowing that their sons and daughter are receiving such a warm welcome in the States." she said with a smile. "You all are so cool and really great people. I really want you all to be happy. Thank you so much for tonight."

BM agreed with Somin about how their parents would be happy. "The only thing that you want for your child is them for to be loved, cherished and accepted in this cruel world" he admitted. "You guys are one of the most beautiful crowds we've ever had. That being said, one thing that I really really treasure that I get from my fans is self confidence."

Before going into their last song, BM stated that he wanted to try something. He'd yell 'we go what?' and fans follow with 'we do dumb' and they'd do that twice. For the third time, Hidden Kards add the word dumb a total of five times instead of just one. Once the crowd knew what to do BM had them go one more time before going into the song. "This is Dumb Litty. Last song for the night let's go!"

Dumb Litty showed to be a fan favorite as everyone in the building danced and sang along with everything they had. KARD got fans to use the chant BM taught them during the song. Once the song ends, the four say their thanks and walk backstage.

Hidden Kards didn't want the concert to end so they started chanting for the group to come back out. They yelled each individual letter in KARD. The effort wasn't in vane as Somin, J.Seph, BM and Jiwoo reappear for an encore stage. BM and Jiwoo changed into Chicago Bulls jerseys just for the finale.

Fans get closer to the edge of the stage as Bomb Bomb is performed a second time. When the first chorus hits, water is thrown into the crowd. Continuing with the energy they go straight into the next song, Ride on the Wind. During this song, a water fight between Jiwoon and J.Seph broke out. Each of them pouring water on the other whenever they had a chance. The playful fight ended suddenly when water go split on the front speakers and a staff member ran out to save them.

The real final song was Dumb Litty again, but this time without any choreography. KARD used this time to interact with fans and take their phones for special videos. Somin took it a step farther by bringing out her own phone to record the moment.

Another way the moment got recorded was with a group picture. KARD posed with all of their Hidden Kards in the crowd. Smiles everywhere and various hand gestures we present for the two pictures taken. With the pictures done the time for the quartet to leave arrived. They each thanked the fans one more time and bowed.

"We'll be here next year" BM promises as he and the others walk off the stage in Chicago for the last time of the night.
